Gymnastic class displays
The first gymnastic class displays were held in March: 22nd March for Wednesday classes and 24th March for Friday classes. Parents were invited to watch which gave them an opportunity to see what their children are learning in their classes. It also gave children who would not normally want to take part in competitions an opportunity to perform in front of an audience without the pressure of a formal event. A medal was awarded in each class to the child who, in the opinion of the coaches, has made the most progress in gymnastics so far this year. The winners were: Wednesday 4.00 Katie Day; Wednesday 5.00 Megan Abbot; Wednesday 6.00William Porter; Friday 4.00 Becky Kidby; Friday 5.00 Alice Merry; Friday 6.00;
Jake Turner.
The
Friday 7.00 class have an annual award called the "Fay Greene Award for progress". This is a trophy that was donated to the club by the family of Fay Greene who used to attend this class many years ago and is presented annually.

Recent competitions
February's Inter Club Trampolining Competition was held at Royal Alexandra & Albert School. We had the use of the school's impressive new tiered seating system which enabled everyone to have a clear, uninterupted view. There were several children competitng for the very first time in this competition, which is very encouraging and would indicate that our coaches are doing an excellent job of helping children to improve.

Horley Acro competition and display. This was held at the Keys Centre in February and all members of the Friday 6.00 and 7.00 classes took part.

The Surrey Floor and Vault competition was held in March at the Keys Centre. 30 gymnasts took part: 15 from Saturn V and 15 from Warlingham School Gym Club. It was a very enjoyable competition with a very relaxed atmosphere. Not at all intimidating for those who were competitng for the first time. Pictured here is Courtnay Jackson from Horley who won the silver medal for vaulting.

Saturn V team up with Super Tramp to promote safety on garden trampolines.
Super Tramp, the UK's largest retailer of garden trampolines has joined forces with Saturn V to promote safety on garden trampolines.
From 1st April this year every Super Tramp garden trampoline sold in the East Surrey area will include a voucher for two free lessons at one of Saturn V's eight trampoline club venues.
Super Tramp sales manager, Jason Richardson said," a recent RoSPA report highlighted the potential for injury on garden trampolines and we felt this initiative (with Saturn V) would be very useful for inexperienced bouncers who will be taught the basics together with correct and safe procedures before they have a chance to get into bad habits."
We have long been of the opinion that garden trampolines should only be used for children to practice what they have learned in a professionally run trampolining club. We are delighted that Super Tramp are taking such a responsible position and we welcome this opportunity to work with them to promote garden trampoline safety.
