Summer Holidays

All classes held at de Stafford, William Road and The Keys continue throughout the holidays - with the exceptions listed below.
If you miss classes due to family holidays, you are welcome and encouraged to make them up by attending additional classes when you return. Classes are held throughout the week, so please phone the office to arrange this.
(All classes held in schools, close for the summer holidays.)
Other closures:
de Stafford and William Road will be closed on Bank Holiday Monday 25th August.
The Keys Centre, Horley will be closed for maintenance on Friday 19th and Saturday 20th August.
Kindergym pre-school classes do not run during school holidays.

Inter-Club Trampoline competition

This was held on 9th July at the Keys Centre. We were very pleased to see the number of children competing for the first time. Everyone seems happy with the new categories which now match the development and award scheme we use in classes. It is much simpler to understand than the old scheme. Now when you pass grade 8 in your class, you qualify to compete at grade 8 in a competition. When you pass grade 9 you qualify to compete at grade 9, and so on.
The competition was so popular that we are now planning two this year, instead of the one we had originally planned. They will be in October and December. Dates and venues to be arranged.

Gymnastics Display at Salfords Primary School

The Friday 7.00 class put on a sports acro display recently for Salford Primary School's summer fete. The display was held in the open and the weather was perfect for the occasion.

Year 1's hold trampoline display

All 90 year 1 children at Holmesdale school took part in a trampoline display for parents on the 8th July. These children who are only 6 years old had all spent weeks learning their moves and memorizing their routines. The end result was a polished display and many very proud parents.

Summer Holiday Fundays

The Summer Holiday Fundays are on Thursday 28th July and Thursday 18th August and will be held as before at the Keys Centre in Horley. Children living in the Caterham district will travel by coach from The Rebound Hall in William Road, Caterham on the Hill, leaving at 9.30am. They will return again at 4.30pm. Cost is £15.
Children living closer to Horley, can make their own way to the Keys Centre and the cost is reduced to £13. Times are 11.00am to 3.00pm. Places are limited-please book early to avoid being disappointed.

Summer Holiday Trampolining Mega Sessions

Summer Holiday Kindergym Funtime Sessions

These are for pre-school children from the age of 2 1/2 and consist of an hour of trampolining and gymnastics fun. A drink and biscuit are provided. They are being held at The Rebound Hall in Caterham and are on Wednesday 3rd August and Wednesday 24th August from 12.45 to 1.45 and 1.45 to 2.45.
Loads of fun, but places are limited, so please book early by phoning Shirley on 01883 623452.

Velour shorts

Which go with the club leotard are now available in black as well as the matching jade colour. It seems to have become very fashionable for children to wear contrasting black shorts with leotards so we have decided to offer that option.

Club Uniform

Parents have often asked us if we can supply a club uniform. Unlike some clubs, we do not make uniforms compulsory as we realise that everyones' financial circumstances are different and it could be expensive for a parent who has several children coming to the club to buy them all a uniform.
However, we have a voluntary uniform for those who want it. It is a club T-shirt or vest top and black shorts. This same uniform can be worn by girls or boys and although inexpensive, looks very smart. Children can wear their black PE shorts from school or girls may like to buy the black velour stretchy shorts as mentioned above. T-shirts and vest tops cost £6. The velour shorts cost £10.50 up to size 28" and £11.50 for size 30" +.
These items can be ordered direct from your coach or by telephoning the office.

(The only time a uniform has to be a compulsory requirement is when children are entering a competition against other clubs. A club leotard is necessary not only for image and presentation purposes but also so that people can distinguish which club a gymnast or trampolinist is representing.)

Competition uniform

Just a reminder: If you are competing against other clubs, then girls should wear a club leotard and boys should wear either a boys' club leotard and black shorts or a club T-shirt and black shorts.
If you are competing in an inter-club competition the dress requirements are:
Girls: any leotard (matching or black shorts may also be worn) OR club T-shirt and black shorts.
Boys: Club T-shirt and black shorts.

Parking in William Road. Please remember to be considerate of our neighbours and make sure you leave plenty of access down the middle of the road for emergency vehicles, lorries etc. If you are parking, rather than just dropping off, please consider leaving your car in Coulsdon Road or better still in Yorke Gate where there are always plenty of parking places.

Members' satisfaction survey

The highest scoring coach in the July members' satisfaction survey will be announced in the next newsletter as we had to put this newsletter out a little early because of the summer holiday activities announcements.

Winner of the August prize draw which is included with the members' satisfaction survey will also be announced in the next newsletter. The winner him or herself will be informed by e-mail on 1st August.
We have a new sponsor for the survey. It is the Good Companions Bar & Restaurant in Hamsey Green, Warlingham. They will be providing a 3 course meal for two with wine for the winner of the survey prize draw.

(Despite the picture in the brochure and the Fruit Shoot ad on the T.V.)
Garden trampolines are great fun and can be safe if the above simple rules are always followed.

For Sale

Members are selling various items of secondhand club clothing. We keep an updated list, so phone or e-mail if you are interested in buying some secondhand kit.
Similarly, if you have grown out of your leotard or fleece and would like to sell it another member, send us an e-mail with the details and we will add it to the list.
