New School YearNew opportunities and activities Sometimes when children enter a new school year they find that the day or time of new school activities clash with their gymnastics or trampolining classes. New branch opening this monthSaturn V have joined forces with the Royal Alexandra and Albert School in Gatton Park, Reigate and are opening a new branch at the schoool this month. Coaches will be teaching trampolining during curriculum time to the RAA school students and will be running an after school club on Wednesdays and Thursdays which will be open to the public. The school is applying for sports college status and by linking with Saturn V in this way it will help their application as well as enabling more people to take part in trampolining, which incidentally is now Europe's fastest growing sport.
South East Region Acro CompetitionBilled as the Sports Acro Summer tournament, this was held in Brighton in July. 5 members of our club took part in what was a very friendly, good natured and enjoyable competition.Clubs from all over the South East took part and although we did not come away with any medals, our team scored very well and came away in the knowledge that we can compete on equal terms with the best of them. Forthcoming Inter club Trampoline competitionThis will be on Sunday 7th November at de Stafford Sports Centre in Caterham.
Profile on Lauren DimeryLauren joined Saturn V's Horley branch about 10 years ago as a gymnast and trampolinist. Over the years she has taken part in many competitions and performed in many displays. A few years ago she started helping to coach the younger gymnasts and took to it so well that she soon became a regular member of the club's coaching team. Lauren has an exceptional ability to devise and put together complicated gym and dance routines and was a major contributor to the planning of the Horley branch's gym display last February. For this work and in recognition of the progress she has made in all aspects of gymnastics, she was awarded the coveted "Fay Greene Award for Progress" trophy this year. Winner of the June prize draw was 4 year old Amy Thornhill. Amy attends a Funfit class at William Road and wins (for her parents) a 3 course meal for two with a bottle of wine, courtesy of the Horshoe Country Carvery in Warlingham. The prize draw is included with the Members’ satisfaction survey.
